[Bug?] NTLite 2025.10.10649 crashes on "Latest online updates" (W10 LTSC 21H2)

Just in case you'd prefer to look at it yourself: I'm attaching SHA-256 hashes of all updates I have in my Updates/10.21H2.x64 directory (the one that causes the crash); I have also uploaded the updates cache directory itself...

[Bug?] NTLite 2025.10.10649 crashes on "Latest online updates" (W10 LTSC 21H2)

I do have the original directory that had caused the crash. It is very large (13 GB); where do you want it? I suspected a corrupted/damaged file, but I've been using the same (persistent) updates cache directory for a long time. It is stored on an integrity-protected storage (network drive to a...

[Bug?] NTLite 2025.10.10649 crashes on "Latest online updates" (W10 LTSC 21H2)

The latest NTLite build (2025.10.10649) silently crashes when opening the "Latest online updates" window on an unmodified Windows 10 LTSC 21H2 image (`en-us_windows_10_enterprise_ltsc_2021_x64_dvd_d289cf96`) when the update cache is populated. After purging the update cache, the crash does not...

The new preset system bug reports

I'm with xwing. I relied on file mtimes to sort and work with my presets. The fact that NTLite has just silently rewritten all presets behind my back is really unpleasant.

MSIX libraries/runtimes are not visible in pending tasks

I wasn't planning to bother you once again about WinRE, but if we are talking about it anyway: I noticed that at some point NTLite gained the ability to extract the SSU (servicing stack update) from a CU, if one is queued, and integrate it separately before any other upgrades (and before the...

MSIX libraries/runtimes are not visible in pending tasks

OK, perhaps I overreacted and I'm sorry for that. However, I hope you understand why I saw this as a completely irrelevant tangent at best (and derailment at worst): I was asking about apparent strange behavior in applying MSIXs to install.wim, my screenshot shows install.wim, and nowhere in my...

MSIX libraries/runtimes are not visible in pending tasks

This item is inserted automatically by NTLite 2025.10.10626 and cannot be unchecked. I assume it's a bug. Regardless, I was not talking about adding anything to WinRE, so please stop playing gotcha with me.

MSIX libraries/runtimes are not visible in pending tasks

Understood, thanks! Hrm. It appears I cannot reproduce the "Missing" popup. Reapplying the same profile to the same image does not seem to trigger it anymore. I will create a separate report if it happens again.

I was not talking about adding anything to WinRE. Please see attached screenshot.

MSIX libraries/runtimes are not visible in pending tasks

With NTLite 2025.10.10626 (latest update), trying to apply "Latest online updates" (including the MSIX/AppX runtimes NTLite suggests) to a Windows 10 LTSC 2021 image results in the MSIX/AppX runtimes not being visible in the pending tasks list. Additionally, there is a "Missing" (just the word...

    SlimJim LTSC 2021 Preset (free)

I cannot test other MSIs because, well, I need the guest agent to drop files into the VM (and this image also has nonfunctional SMB, so I cannot reach my lab server either). If you can suggest any diagnostics I can run (except msiexec /log which does not say anything useful), I'd be happy to dig...

    SlimJim LTSC 2021 Preset (free)

I'm afraid you misunderstood. I'm talking about the QEMU guest agent. Obviously I have no desire to run QEMU hypervisor under Windows (this is not actually possible, it does not have a Hyper-V backend).

    SlimJim LTSC 2021 Preset (free)

On this preset (applied to a Windows 10 LTSC 2021 image), it seems to be impossible to install MSI packages like the QEMU guest agent MSI — it errors out almost immediately. Could you please advise / look into what might be the problem?

[REQ] Adding custom sections and keys to the Unattended (answer) file

This question about configuring multiple input locales (https://www.ntlite.com/community/index.php?threads/how-to-add-several-values-for-inputlocale-multiple-keyboards.2431/) suggests that it is possible to "edit the XML" or "add the rest manually" if one needs to specify custom unattended...

    GamerOS Windows 10 & 11 DIY Preset

OK, solved it. PSA: for the Snip & Sketch tool to work, in addition to its NTLite dependencies, you need to re-add these two components: <c>dssvc 'Data Sharing Service'</c> <c>sharedexperiences 'Shared Experiences'</c>

    GamerOS Windows 10 & 11 DIY Preset

I need a bit of help with this preset. When applying to Windows 10 22H2, the preset has this bug: the Snip & Sketch app (the Win+Shift+S one) works at first but *stops working* after a few invocations or a short time (I'm not exactly sure of the conditions). After Snip & Sketch stops working...

Unattended install with a different NTFS cluster size?

Is there any way in NTLite to create an unattended installation image that would format the target partition with a non-default NTFS cluster size? I haven't found a way to do this using autounattend.xml (there doesn't seem to be a way in the <ModifyPartition> schema to pass arbitrary format...

[BUG] Editing Winre.wim causes NTLite to save/unload install.wim

When opening Winre.wim (nested inside of an install.wim) in a session and instructing NTLite to "Save the image" on the Apply page, both the Winre.wim being edited and containing install.wim are saved and unloaded. Reproduction steps: Load an image (e.g., "Windows 10 Pro") from install.wim...

[Bug/Request] Handle nested mounted WIMs when unloading an image directory

Apparently this got stealth fixed at some point, nice, thanks Nuhi! Just noticed this when working with WinRE images (which are nested in install.wim) that I can click Revert and it will unmount everything in the correct order and then revert the copy all by itself, which is so much more...
