Can Host Refresh be used to remove components?

Hello, I was wondering if I can use the Host refresh feature to remove certain things from my current Windows install. Things like Windows Defender and bloat items. I was hoping I don't have to perform a clean install since I want to keep things. Thanks ahead of time.

Host refresh is normally used to restore previously removed components. If you have a licensed copy of NTLite, you can mount the current live Windows image and perform the following:
  • Add new KB updates
  • Enable or disable Features on Demand
  • Add new driver files
  • Remove existing components (including some protected features like OOBE, which have to wait until you're done installing Windows for the first time)
  • Enable or disable Windows services
  • Change Windows settings
I believe you can remove components while you're in Host refresh, but you don't need to prepare an ISO if you can just want to mount the live system to remove more items. Just requires a NTLite license (as a premium feature).

Hi Garlin... I inadvertently, removed: Backup-Restore "Win 7" and USB AutoPlay. From the Installed OS.
Yes I did backups before & after. If I use Host refresh, & load the OEM Image & the AutoSaved Config File,
It produces an Un-Bootable OS. OS was 200 Process @ Start up. Now 65 @ Start up: Very Stable.
It took Seven Trim operations & A Firewall to keep Microsoft from Re-Bloating the OS.

The question I can barely formulate is? How does one Extract & Re-install Only the -->Components one wishes.
Every attempt to use Host refresh Fails.... In the Voice of Sgt. Hans Schultz, I Know Nothing.... I Know Nothing.... yet
Thanks New-Guy Kale

Host refresh requires a clean copy of the ISO. It compares your live system against a preset, and tries to restore what's missing. Did your auto-saved preset have a complete set of image edits, or just a partial copy of recent changes (not including previous edits)?

Thank You Sir... Well... Yes It does, All Edits Accounted for, yet when I "Contrast-Compare" the Live & "Hoped for Output" I see No Tasks to be Done. I should see a Task? Yes? Or does it only Show what is to be Removed?
I understand I'm not "Getting" something Fundamental. I have Win 11 24H2 A real Stinker. It will not allow (oobe/bypass) It will Not Boot to the OS. (Audit Mode was a dead end) I have to Let It Connect to Microsoft for 4, - 7 seconds then Pull the Landline cable out the back of the Wifi Router! Click Retry 8? 10? Times & It Boots to OS, No Microsoft account. 30 years in the USAF, 'built Satellite Comm. Centers from Cleaning Keyboards to Setting up $60,000/Hour Sat Links around the world. Yet this is Kicking my Butt.

Thank you for your service, but it's easier to answer questions if we turn down the folk-isms to a minimum.

In the first reply, you're trying to run Host Refresh to restore the W7-era Backup & Restore and AutoPlay, but ended up with an unbootable system. Moving to your second reply, it sounds like you're reinstalling 24H2 and not getting past the MS Account requirement.

Do you have a preset to attach (after removing any user passwords or license key)?
