Comeback to default value

If the value is non-bold (non-changing), then it read either Enabled or Disabled was already set.
Default is actually when no value is set yet.
Come to think of it maybe there should be an option to remove existing settings, but it's a bit dangerous as some are pre-set by Windows.

So to summarize, NTLite adds the Default option only if an item did not have a setting when image was loaded.
If it finds existing, or previously set, value, it won't show Default as it cannot guarantee which it was, in Home edition is different than Pro etc.

Thanks for your quick feedback, but I'm afraid I don't understand everything. You can't change this value in an XML file to go back to the initial state.

NTLite provides a long list of different Windows settings, each of them matches a known registry key.

1. For an install image, some reg keys already exist in the image but most of them are created during the install process. When the NTLite setting is Default, no attempt is made to add a specific reg value to the image's registry. NTLite doesn't keep track of the original value that Windows has created, and only knows if you asked NTLite to change it to something specific.

If you right-click on any line, next to the round ball, you can reset the value back to Default (or no changes).

While there is a Reset button in Settings, it applies to all settings. There is no Reset for an entire category, like Windows Updates.

2. For a live host, NTLite can only show you what the current settings are in the Registry. Again, it doesn't remember the Windows default for that reg key so you can't reset it back to Default.

As noted above, the default value is the not same for all Windows versions and editions (Home, Pro, etc). So it would be very difficult for NTLite to track every different version and get the original settings all correct.

Backup of what? Are you try to reset the defaults on an install image, or a live system?

We install image, after build a first one and auto backup we can't go back to the default value in the update settings. so I had to start from scratch.

You are trying to load the Auto-saved preset, and want to reset all Windows Update settings to the Default?

First load an image, and next load the Auto-Saved preset, and right-mouse click next to the color ball. It will show "Reset value" for that line. Repeat this step for any setting which is not Default. Now save this new preset.

If "Reset value" is grayed out, there is nothing to reset (it's Default).
