Hi,
please help because I have exhausted all sources including long hours with ChatGPT.
In Post-Setup Before logon phase everything goes well, all programs are installed , but on reboot Windows enter a persistent loop on Preparing Windows.
When I manually reset VMware machine, After logon phase continues like nothing happened and all programs get installed.
I'm getting crazy, tried everything I could find on web, listened to useless ChatGPT (payed) advises, and nothing. Loop is looping happilly no matter what I try.
I'm using Windows 10 LTSC 2021 base and NTLite 10552 (legal), and no matter which programs or in which order I install them result is always as above described.
TIA,
gigor

Your only changes are adding the programs in Post-Setup (do you have a preset) ?
Have you tried installing them manually and seeing if the problem still occurs after rebooting ?

Adding programms only in Post-Setup, but also adding some Registry files (2), Updates (6) , some drivers (5). All this worked flawlessly for last two years.

If the problem appeared after adding the programs to Post-Setup, it's best to test by installing them manually under Windows
And see if a program is causing problems upon reboot (I've never seen this happen, but there may be some conflict).

The problem appeared after I tried to add Webview2. After that I removed WebView2 install, returned preset from backup I made before even touching WebView2, but no go. And, by the way, WebView2 is installing correctly in After logon phase, after I reset VM machine. If you explain to me how to remove private info from preset, I can post it.

You open the .xml file with notepad (for example), delete the personal information and save it in a new file

In this preset there is always the addition of "webview2" but you tested without
Otherwise nothing that jumps out at me (especially if it worked without any problems before).
Others will probably be able to help you more.

Don't install SAB from (Before logon), always (After logon).

It's good I think
Code:
            <Item type="18">
                <Path>D:\NTLite\Apps\After logon\StartBack.exe</Path>
                <Params>/VERYSILENT /SUPPRESSMSGBOXES /NORESTART /SP-</Params>
                <DestMode>1</DestMode>
                <Index>1002</Index>

I am manually adding necessary files as $1 to ISO before installing, and it works. The problem is the loop at Preparing Windows, SAB is installed later when restart VM machine to continue installing.
So the problem is, perhaps I'm wrong, somewhere between Before logon, which finishes fine and reboots, and After logon which never start because of damned LOOP.

Believe it or not, exactly after looping in VM at Prepare Windows for 10 full minutes while I was writing this, Windows just booted and all After logon programs are installed correctly, including Webview2.
It never happened before, but what was it doing on a PC with 32 GB of RAM and AMD 5600 for 10 minutes with only Firefox active is a real mystery.

yes, it works, but it took 10 full minutes in loop Preparing Windows and then entered After Logon phase and installed all that was in After Logon part. Perhaps it happened before too, but by pure accident I let it loop for 10 minutes, who would normally wait that long. The question is what it was doing during this 10 minutes and why.

I would try a new downloaded copy of Win 10 LTSC Sounds like you could have a corrupt copy of your install. This has happened to me in the past. You could try UUP Dumpand maby download there Im not sure if they have it for download. Second thing I would try is if all ous fails maby look at changing the HDD, I have also had that as a problem. TRY HERE FOR A NEW COPY OF Win 10 LTSC.

Mod note: Redacted link to non-official copy of MS ISO. Only links to official sources can be posted, per forum rules.
