[Solved] NTLite keeps showing a different Windows edition than the selected one?

Back again with yet another recent issue. I have an original Windows 11 24H2 image, untouched. I load up Professional Education and click on "save the image and trim editions" under Apply. The process completes without error, but when I am brought back to the Image screen, I see Professional only.

I have tried a different ISO, same result. I have also attempted this on a different PC with the same version of NTLite, same result. What's going on here?

edit: I can confirm that right clicking on an unloaded image and exporting what I want will give me the edition I picked. No oddities there.

Tested it now, cannot replicate.

Was that with the latest version? Please retest, something around that was fixed few weeks ago.

Thanks for checking it out. It was indeed with the latest version of NTLite as of last week. This week I saw an update appear so I'll check again sometime to see if it happens.

Update: After sitting on this for a while, I came back and updated NTLite. Export of my selected edition now works. Still not sure what was going on before, but the edition swap is no longer happening.

Final update: Looks like the issue is still happening to me. I started with a genuine Windows 11 24H2 ISO. Picked Professional. Went to apply and checked in "Save the image and trim editions" and let it run. It completed successfully, but as seen in the second picture, NTLite shows me that I have Professional Education. Not sure if this bug is purely visual, but for now my solution is as follows.

1) Create a new edit.
2) Right click on chosen edition (assuming only 1 is needed).
3) Choose export install.wim
4) Save to the directory of the cache's install.wim (Should be under Program Files/NTLite/Cache/Images).
5) Overwrite the current install.wim with the export.

This is much faster anyways, even if it's a couple more clicks.

Thank you, will test this when I get back from vacation on Tuesday.

Just make sure you get home in time for Patch Tuesday.

tired-it, with a bit of a delay, found this in my todo.

Retested edition exporting (save and remove others) again, no issues.

Can you please figure out what changed since:
"Export of my selected edition now works"
to
"Looks like the issue is still happening to me"

How can it work sometimes - if you think about it selecting one edition is probably what 90%+ users are doing, it would be a wide-spread issue.

Just wondering what is the angle that needs to be added to my testing - if you figure it out.
Make sure it's the latest version.

Thank you.

Thanks for the followup. When I wanted a particular edition, I would double click on it to create a new cache file with that edition loaded up. Then I would trim and save the file to remove the other editions. When I specifically did that with Professional Education on a Windows 11 24H2 ISO, the processing would complete, but end up with a Professional edition instead.

The workaround was to right click and export the edition I wanted after I created a new cache image from the original ISO. I essentially overwrote the install.wim of the multi-edition ISO with the single edition install.wim of my choosing.

Edit: I just ran through the process once more. I haven't a clue what changed since the process is the same and I have been using a clean Windows ISO straight from their site. This time I ended up with the correct Windows edition.
