ISO Support & Image Edits

Work directly with ISO files and manage image edits efficiently.

Starting with version 2023.2, NTLite supports ISO image format as the starting point. No more manually unpacking ISOs - the tool handles it for you.

ISO Support Features

  • Add ISO directly to the list via drag and drop or toolbar
  • Lists internal editions from ISO instantly, without unpacking
  • Unpacked ISOs are called "Image edits"
  • Image edits can also be clones from other image folders

The purpose is to have an accessible reference list of read-only images and safely create edits from those.

Working with ISOs

On the Image page, drag and drop or use the toolbar to Add an ISO to the list. To start using the ISO content:

  • Load the target edition directly, or
  • Right-click on the ISO and choose New edit

Both options prompt you to select the Image edit cache directory, which can be hidden for future use.

Image Edits

Creating a new image edit makes a writable copy of the reference image and establishes a connection back to it.

  • The reference image (directory or ISO) is read-only
  • All edits are created under the chosen location and shown in their own group
  • Individual edits can be deleted, reverted to the reference state, or (for directory references) replace the reference content
  • Delete and Revert work even if the image is loaded - unloading happens automatically

Managing Connections

To maintain connections between ISO and edits, or between directories and edits, use the right-click Connect/Disconnect menus on an edit.

Revert

Mirrors the reference image. Only differences are copied or deleted, making it fast and efficient compared to manual directory replacement.

Replace Reference

Mirrors an edit back to the reference image directory. Again, only differences are copied or deleted. Useful when you're happy with changes and want to store the edit back as the backup read-only reference.
