Any help to eliminate Start Menu "Store suggested apps" in 25H2?

A few ElevenForum users confirm that running WinToys to opt out of the Digital Markets Act works too.

What WinToys actually does is modify IntegratedServicesRegionPolicySet.json, to change "Show modified UX layout, such as unweighted options, for Privacy-related settings". Turkey is of course, not an EEA member.

This setting isn't present in the RTM version of the JSON file, so you'll need to update your base image before you can edit it.

Either change the defaultState to "enabled", or insert your country code in the list.
 
Hi, I found out that if you remove 2 strings and revoke write access to store.db the ads will be gone. So I created attached powershell script to do that.

It basically revokes write access to "%localappdata%\Packages\Microsoft.WindowsStore_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\store.db" so ads info can't be written so it can't be shown.

It doesn't broke microsoft store in any way, but idk if store.db file gets updates frequently. May need to reapply it from time to time. it works as hidden at login in my system so I never see ads.

There's a simpler answer if you're on Sep 2026 or later, which is to force enable the "Remove Store results from Search" feature (because it's in gradual rollout). This reg file does the same as "vivetool /enable /id:61161244,61754985,62353331,62762248".

Don't have any issues with that too. Instead the ever changing 6 or 8 row StartMenu in 25H2, whatever day you open your MS installed PC/ Laptop, i'm still not able to change it in Settings as graduall roll-out seems to be late.
In the meantime - found a reg trick provided from (credit to) Windows Eleven to get back to small StartMenu with 6 row icon and nothing else crap.

francis we already got you have no issue, but it doesnt mean rest of the world doesnt got it. we rest of the world got it, then it is about you not us. you can stop replying this thread since your answers are out of scope and not helping.

Using latest NTL version and removed search as using Everything.
NTL Settings set as following on 25H2.9445 and don't show any App suggestions in StartMenu after an install.

This is present - and thank you guys for testing future builds to help Nuhi for developing NTL to avoid problems in comming Windows builds even theres a diffence in what's expected and what's actually being published as updates with different roll-out scenarios depending on the country you live in.

applied it didn't solve the issue, did you check it like after 15 mins of usage? open store and close it if u need. when i type teamviwer spotify etc can see store results... will stay on my solution but thanks
 
I didn't have this option visible before the reg update:

It works for me, if I search for Spotify, there is no Store app icon presented. Just generic Bing results.
 
I'm sorry I misunderstood, I thought it disables the feature on reg level, I see what you mean now. I manually switched it off. thanks! do you also have command to switch it off?

The reg file combines both the Feature ID's to enable the Settings App to show it, and force it off. Eventually when the gradual rollout is done, all you will need is the last setting in the reg file.
 
CMD if applicable on the build:
reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer" /v NoNewAppAlert /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /fgpupdate /force

Restart explorer.

Removing it via cmd prompt in reg or gpo as it's same - and usually works on both Home and Pro.

That reg key has absolutely NO RELATION to the topic. It only disables the notification that a recently installed app can be chosen to open a known File Type.
 
For me vivetool doesnt even add the reg entries, when I added the reg entries, even with reboot was no change to settlings applet.

But is the applet visibility needed to disable store search results, is the reg tweak enough?

I see garlin said need to be on Sept CU, which is odd as all news reports on this were published in June.

Interesting how microsoft eventually adds the features we want or need, but always 6-12 months late, the community doesn't talk about the issues enough or early enough as we do.
