Hello,

I have looked around the forum and changelog, but didn't find anything related to it, except the Copilot App.
Since 24H2 March Preview Update these AI Components are included in the monthly cumulative update.

The 700MB update suddenly grew to 2,3GB and keeps growing every month. The latest one is 3,8GB already. Where shall we end up?
I remember the announcement that Win11 is going to have much smaller updates than Win10... :D

Anyway, I wonder if these components are removable at all, if it is feasible, or already implemented and I didn't get it.
For a small as possible installation media this part seems to be a big chunk after applying cumulative update and it has surely been integrated into 25H2 to begin with.

Regards,
Wilhelm

Monthly updates have doubled in size because MS "added" the MSIX files.
It's for Recall and other AI components, not for regular apps.
It gets installed for NPU PCs only

MS could have distinguished these updates, it would have avoided for those like us (without NPU PC) having to download large updates

I see, thanks for the insight!

The question arises though, if such an update was integrated, wouldn't these MSIX files be integrated into the WIM too, because Setup would detect an NPU in the first place and decide if they are to be installed?

I haven't looked at how it works.
With Windows 11 Home/Pro, these updates aren't integrated.
That's why I deleted them from the .msu file (from 3.34GB to 1.31GB).

EDIT : They would only be installed "online" and the update would detect the "NPU"
I saw a registry key to add so that they would be integrated into an image, but I don't know if anyone has tried it yet.
