Bored? Help me make Windows 21H2 super light: low handles

If you cant lite them out, rename them or use Simple Run Blocker. Process Lasso has a feature to block things running.
Bareboning Scheduled Tasks should stop some of them. Disabling Defender/Search helps. When i do stuff on 10 task manager flatlines fairly quickly after starting and stays that way.

Install Fiddler4 (now FiddlerClassic), and watch the network traces. You don't have to inspect the packet content, just where it's headed.
Google the destination addresses and disable the right services, or block them in the HOSTS file.

Most of these are "housekeeping" services like updates, telemetry.

Windows firewall only blocks by specific IP address. You can't use wildcards for IP or DNS.
If you disabled services first, it shouldn't require a hosts file with more than 100 lines to block stragglers.
 
if u have service names linked to exe or dlls. you can block them via firewall to block every possible address
 
Clanger What about some "hidden" services like DHCPv6 Client Service (which is still starting according to Event Viewer, even ipv6 is disabled)?

Apart from Defender on 10 i only tweak visible services availible in services.msc and im not a networking expert by any means, i do 1 at a time/reboot until something breaks. I keep Themes(disable dwm on 7) and Printing cos i need them.

I have got 2 baseline services files for w7, one with networking, one without, for airgapping. I would apply them on 10 then do 10 specific services as already mentioned above. As i have not done anything for months i would need a major fresh just to get back to the point i was at and then some to go further. Ive got major health issues that have really messed me up. TLDR.

I know MT_ disables a few device services but thats too far for me.
Like AeonX said a while back the extra resources being used in w10 might be down to the infrastructure needed for uwp etc.

W7 barebone services with networking about 6xxx handles, without networking 4xxx handles. LTSC 1809 8xxx so far.

Friend Can you pl provide some good w7 presets from your research on Ntlite . i ill be so much thankfull to you.
 
I dont have a soper dooper w7 gaming preset if that is what you want. Get ALL-MY-STUFF.zip on my Download page. Its everything in a single pack, hence the name. Nothing has been updated in several years.

I will be getting ltsc 1809 back up today.

Quick schmucky question, KB5008218(CU, 17763.2366) and onward include Servicing Stack yes?
cos the .2366 page says You must install the August 10, 2021 SSU (KB5005112) before installing the LCU.
So does it have the SS or not?

What the hell, im shoving it in anyway.

#4 translated in normie speak: Previous SSU's required only for manual upgrades, doesn't apply to CU integration.
 
is it ok to have 20K handles on an IDLE OLD Desktop running Feb 2022 Updated Win10 LTSB 2016 after fresh install & applied NTLite settings only to current installed OS.
