Can't login to Windows

I have no idea why I can't login in this installation. I try to login by going to settings and then clicking on the local account avatar at the top left. I input my email and password fine, but then it asks me to sign into this computer, which I do, but then it tells me that something has gone wrong. Not that the password is wrong, just that something has gone wrong. Can anyone guess what i've broken?

Thanks.

Under Unattended, uncheck:
- Copy to install image
- Copy to boot image

Hmm, that hasn't worked. Maybe i'll just live with it.

It is odd, I can use onedrive and office, but not sign in to windows.

I might have fixed this. If you go into services and find 'Microsoft Account Sign-in Assistant' you will see that it is set to Manual (Trigger Start). If you simply start this service then you can log on.

The notes for RPC locator state that it is required for backwards compatibility and it is marked green.

I think what Garlin means is the following. Do these steps, so you can learn because you will end up using this again for future troubleshooting: Start > Windows Administrative Tools > Services > right-click on Microsoft Account Sign-In Assistant > Properties > Dependencies

You can see RPC Locator here, and expand the list to see it's related components too (DCOM Server Process Launcher, RPC Endpoint Mapper).

Note: Garlin your URL link is broken (see replies below for more info--users can workaround this issue by right-clicking on the link and choosing "copy link address" then manually pasting that into a new tab).

Is there a way to avoid the link refer situation on this forum? Mostly I just want to know for future posts if I come across this again.

Don't think so, your browser automatically puts the refer when clicking the embedded link. And a lot of forum software auto-convert URL strings to links so you can't enter it as raw text. Some websites are just prissy.

This wasn't the answer. The RPC service is running, but I am still having the fault. It does eventually resolve by itself, but I don't know why.

Well since you solved it earlier by manually starting Microsoft Account Sign-in Assistant, what I would do next is change it to "Automatic" in the services, reboot and test (do this like 3 times), and see if it lets you sign in every time.

Thanks. It seems that this wasn't the answer. I can't login into windows at all now, but I am connected to the store, onedrive and office.

My guess is that MS used to telemetry to let me in before. It isn't really a problem, the computer is running well right now and I'm happy with my build (for now).

Just to double-check, is the report that Microsoft Account login doesn't work with this preset?
Asking to see if there is anything left for me to debug, the goal is if Microsoft Store compatibility is checked, Microsoft Account login should work as well.

Thanks.

It is here. I suppose it is not essential to be signed in, but I just can't understand why I get the errors above when I try to login. I have setup Windows Hello, I have signed into office, onedrive and the store. However, I disabled the MS store install service because the store tries very hard to install apps even if you tell it not to.

It's not possible to activate w11 Home with a generic key - try move the key to the setup option in Unattended section instead (red to green marked) and activate your install properly after install an see if you can logon into MS.
Don't know if help - but guess that can be the reason:

Thanks. That can be worth a try on a different install. I don't know the key for this laptop anymore
