Components in boot.wim

Since time, I've found
The components I'm removing (current state of boot.wim) and I haven't tested everything yet
For the drivers, make sure you keep the ones that match with your machine (disk controller drivers, language, keyboard, etc..., among others)
Importing into a fresh Windows 10 v1809 generates an error (the blue screen sad face error) upon booting into setup. Luckily there's waaaay less items inside boot.wim to sort through. Investigating further...

Used with Windows 11, there may be differences with Windows 10
If you get a BSOD from the start, I think it's a matter of drivers
Multimedia, Network, etc..., isn't a problem

After some testing...you're correct. It's absolutely a driver. I also had to keep "Pseudo-locale" under Localization > Language as well. Keeping all drivers and not keeping that, ended with the same sad face error upon boot. Aside from "Pseudo-locale" & "Virtual Disk Service" under System. EVERYTHING (except specific drivers) can be removed; setup will run and install windows. You've also got to keep your needed boot configuration. UEFI or PCAT. Your preset gave me an excellent baseline and understanding of what isn't needed to get through the intall. Here's my super slim boot.wim preset. If booting from DVD/CD then that Hardware Support & Driver need kept too. Will be testing on USB tomorrow. All my tests have been using VMWare with SATA hard drive. Again if NVME or a different storage type is used then the corresponding driver would need kept and the contrary driver can be ommited. I also disabled most services. Only ones I didn't disable were services that cannot be easily stopped while windows is running. They may be able to be tweaked further. If anyone uses this preset and finds more that can be removed, please alert the community. I'm sure there's plenty of "Extra Services" that can be disabled. My main focus was on component removal...but I long for even more tweaks and fine tuning. I'd love to add more. This will be my Final preset in this category for the foreseeable future.

FYI - My base image for editing is a fully updated Windows 10 v1809 x64 Enterprise UUPdump image with all other editions removed. Using latest NTLite v2025.5.10429 (64-bit)
