In the guide I linked you to earlier about choosing a preset, I explain that file dependencies will cause issues like you've just posted about here. Specifically, when you click on an item from the Start Menu it causes the error you're seeing, because NTLite was used to uninstall a component or app, and now Windows doesn't know how to handle that file extension and/or a broken shortcut was left behind.

Either way, the solution is to simply not uninstall whatever component or app is responsible for the error, which we cannot determine because you didn't provide any relevant information, such as your preset or what you even clicked on to get the error. That's also why we test (link1) everything in layers, otherwise it's overwhelming to figure out what the problem is after implementing tons of tweaks all at once, since it's too many variables. Your audio not working (from thread title) is almost certainly due to audio drivers being uninstalled in your preset. Always post your preset when asking for help.

For the people that don't want to learn about all these intricacies and instead just want a preset to play games and such with, this is what I recommend for the types of NTLite users that want to be done with tweaking as fast and easy as possible:
1) Use this (link2) guide to download and prepare a clean and official Microsoft operating system for tweaking.

2) Apply the Gaming or Lite template and process the image by following the instructions within the NTLite Templates section of this (link3) guide. Alternatively, try the Optimized Image (link3). I recommend these options, because at this time they are among the best choices for the public in terms of a high stability to performance ratio for large-scale tweaking.

3) Use the computer as normal and if you experience problems then search the forum to find solutions first. If no solution is found, create a thread that says exactly what the issue is and what kind of tweaks you used, such as the Gaming or Lite template, and other helpful details, such as what you clicked on before things broke. If the error is caused by NTLite, then it will get fixed and patched in a future update. If the problem is due to a removal, then the solution will be to make a new image without the culprit included and install that.

Note: You mailed me directly, but I could never reply to your question because you have also locked the conversation? I would have said that all the tweaks from the DPC Latency guide are in the Optimized Image, except for the stuff that has to manually be tweaked in the BIOS.

Thanks for the reply! I managed to fix the issue by downloading the latest driver from the Realtek site. Before using this NTLite ISO on my main PC, I tested it first on my old laptop with an i5 4th generation processor. I'm still searching for the best preset that has the lowest DPC latency, though. ;)
