Disable DHCP client service without removing the component

I was wondering why is it that I can't disable the Dhcp service using the services tab in Ntlite, I can only remove the component outright, but I can manually disable it using a regedit in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Dhcp and use static ip so why doesn't Ntlite just do the same regedit for disabling the service? because this way I can enable it back if I need to.

Hm, it was something at the beginning of Windows 10 or 11 that when disabling that service, Internet would not be reached or similar.
Will unlock that for the next update within a week, since you say it is now possible and nothing is gained by locking it.

Thank you for the feedback.

Since 24h2, if this service is disabled, there is no internet access (as with the DNS service).
Until 23h2, these 2 services could be disabled (or even deleted) and the internet would still work by manually configuring the settings.

But op says it works disabled (static IP), so who is right, maybe it depends on the Windows version used.
qwerty, which WIndows do you use, any special Network Profile/detection tweaks added?

I'm using Win 11 iot LTCS 2024 but I believe it works on regular windows 11 24h2 as well. Internet works if I manually config settings in network adapter options: IP, mask, gateway, dns server.

I tested it, and indeed, disabling the "DHCP Client" service allowed internet access when configuring it manually. Microsoft has changed this.
I will test it by removing the component

For info, the service is listed in the Services tab in NTLite and can be disabled

The disabling was disabled for an image only, unlocked in the next one for win11+.

Okay, I have the service for the image and in Live.
I was doing the tests directly in Live.
