Hi, question is for Windows 10/11 and related systems. Has anyone got these systems to use a FIDO2 key without Windows Hello? If so, how?
Thanks!
PS: In the past I wrote my own GINA DLL, but with Vista Microsoft rearranged how WinLogon works and since then you'd have to write a Credential Provider and there are more preconditions. On the other hand Microsoft seems to artificially limit the use of FIDO2 to Windows Hello scenarios (which seems to be their shtick to get people to use Microsoft accounts instead of local ones). Clearly Microsoft isn't interested in pushing FIDO2 — despite their statements to the opposite — as much as in extinguishing the personal from personal computing by forcing people into their walled garden of Microsoft accounts with all the downsides it incurs.
Thanks!
