Hi,

I'm trying to create a custom Windows 10 1909 Pro ISO using the latest version of NTLite (as of July 2025). I built a preset XML that removes bloatware and unwanted features, keeps only a few default apps (like Calculator and Alarm), and disables some services and features (e.g., Defender, Cortana, Hyper-V, Telemetry, etc.).

However, when I load the preset in NTLite, it simply shows “Error” with no explanation. There is no detailed message in the UI or log. Here's what I tried:

  • Windows 10 Pro 1909 ISO (Version 18363.418)
  • Latest NTLite build
  • Clean preset with only basic removals and settings
  • Tried with and without Post Setup
  • Tried changing preset name
  • Ensured XML formatting is valid

The only thing that triggers the error is the preset itself. If I don’t load the preset, everything works.

Can someone from the community help review the preset file please?

Thanks in advance!

This is NOT a valid NTLite preset. A working preset has critical metadata details which are entirely missing here, and this is the wrong XML structure.

NTLite has the ability to import presets written by older versions of NTLite, but this is too far removed from a real preset to work.

Thanks for the clarification. The preset was generated by ChatGPT, which explains the missing metadata and structure. I’ll recreate the preset directly within NTLite to ensure compatibility.
