How to get the preset back after it becomes a WIM file

this is already install.win, how can I get the preset back if I forget to back it up, so I can make windows 10 lite/slim again from the preset that has become install.wim, thanks
 
Here are instructions, but the next version will have it better done, within the UI.
 
where can i type this command..??

you can run the tool with this switch:
ntlite.exe /forcelistcomponents /saveallstates
 
Right-click on NTLite shortcut, and add the switches after ", e.g.:
"C:\Program Files\NTLite\NTLite" /forcelistcomponents /saveallstates

Don't forget to remove it when done.
 
Released updated build 9247+, contains Preset - Save As - Extract image state option, no need for switches.
Let me know how it goes.

I've tried this method and got the 160kb preset, then returned it to the state it was before it was changed, but what's strange is that as soon as I loaded it on the new Windows 10 pro and made a lite iso from there like nothing has changed, then tried it on the new vbox I got only windows stopcode bsod. but I haven't tried the new release this morning, but what I want to ask is whether I made a mistake?

Don't know, I don't have that preset nor a virtual machine.
For example if one removes what the virtual machine needs, it can BSOD, e.g. disk controller drivers etc.

OR you disabled a service which is needed during setup, this is a bit more tricky and I would need to override the preset on load.

Best is to start fresh, with the latest version and the new option, if you again have a problem, please attach the direct extracted preset and tell me in which virtual machine to test and what to look for.

This feature was updated in NTLite v2023.5.9249, and no longer requires any external switches.

Run NTLite as normal, and load any source image. Preset -> Save / Extract current image state
You don't need to quit or restart NTLite after the extraction.
