Garlin, nuhi, help me, I'm going crazy.

So I must have inadvertently changed some settings, because now the network icon (despite being enabled by default in NTLite) no longer appears on the desktop (so much so that I had to create a shortcut for it in the Control Panel).

I'm attaching my preset...

I'm going crazy, but I can't find the option...

Hi, the option to show the Network icon on the Desktop in Windows 11 is in:

Settings->Personalization->Themes->Desktop icon settings.

Thanks for your reply, but as you can see from the preset, that option (along with Recycle Bin, etc.) is already checked/enabled.There's something else that, despite that setting, is preventing the Network icon from being visible on the Desktop.

Ah, I thought you were asking where this option is in Windows, sorry.
Have you added any .reg files to the build or anything in the post-install that might affect desktop icon visibility?

That's exactly the problem; the preset has been more or less the same for years... you must have inadvertently flagged something... that I can't find (the old presets are the same...) and no different reg than usual.

That's why I asked the "geniuses" of the forum for help.
Thanks again

For Garlin, nuhi

If you look at the preset, you'll see that these options are already there.

The problem, in my opinion, is NTLite's...

The simple way to debug is to click on Reset from the Settings page, and apply the image. If the problem stops, you know it was caused by Settings. Otherwise it's from one of the Post-Setup items. It may not be the obvious setting that's causing the problem.

clarensio, tested your preset and no issues.
Note that I didn't have your REGs and post-setup installers, so problem is probably in those.
I suggest removing all of those additions and test NTLite by itself, the network tray icon should be there, tested it live and on an image.

I wanted to repeat what you tested (preset without anything else - neither .reg nor software - as in your situation) and with the latest version of win 11 5061 from UUP IT DOES NOT WORK.
It could be a UUP problem or this version introduces something with the latest update that conflicts.

You're welcome to send me a link to that exact ISO download so I can try the same.
Also I would like to see a screenshot of a missing tray icon, so that we are talking about the same thing.

Thank you.

Language =Italiano

With ConvertConfig.ini:
SkipEdge =1
AppsLevel =1

Anyway, I remade a new, simpler preset that doesn't give me any problems; the differences between the old and the new are numerous, and honestly, testing each one individually isn't worth it...

On your screenshot I can see the network tray icon.
Oh, you meant desktop, rechecking.

Confirmed, "Network Explorer" in removals is removing that icon.
That is expected, please keep that one since you need it, see description of the component.

OK, thanks.In my humble opinion, however:
1) I would move the Network Explorer entry from the (unclear) "File sharing support" entry.
2) I would more clearly specify, in the description, besides "VMware Shared Folders," perhaps also "Network icon on Desktop," and perhaps create the corresponding description in the Template.
