"On Friday the company announced, that it would be ending support for metadata across Windows Media Center and Windows Media Player for Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 (although 8 and 8.1 will still have access to it on Media Player)." pmikep

Tnx. I can't tell from the article if this shutdown includes the EPG for OTA TV.

Guess I'll know in two weeks.

(I was thinking the other day how nice it is that someone keeps updating the Guide.)

Aye, that ya will laddy. Any open source alternatives that dont use wmp/wmc you can use? I hate companies relying on built in ms because they are at their mercy because when they want to kill summat off lots of people end up being stuffed like turkeys at christmas.

Confirmed. The EPG is no longer available in the US.

This? LOoks a bit complicated and i aint network settings savvy.
Yep. There's nothing you need to do with the network. You just have to edit some config files and create a key using a built in generator.

I found a Guide years ago on how to install BIND in Windows, but haven't been able to find it since. (Good thing I printed it out.)

If I find it again, I'll post the link.

Hmm... I just booted back into Win7 and EPG updated.

So now I don't know what's going on.

In my Win8.1, I'm using the hacked Win10 WMC trick. But it ought to be pinging the same server as my Win7 WMC.

Maybe it's Comodo blocking it on Win8.1. Will have to check in a couple days. (Want to record a movie Monday. So will have to stay in Win7 til then.)

The EPG is still working in Win8.1 (and Win7). My problem in Win8.1 was the nut behind the wheel. I had disabled the DHCP Client Service because I don't use DHCP and I use BIND as a caching DNS resolver. Apparently WMC needs the Service anyway. (Or perhaps one of the dependent services, like Location Awareness.)
