And Copilot as i "recall" only work with and MS Account - so not worried yet.
The Verge confirms it too.

takes a snapshot every 3 seconds, stores it for 3 months.
"we wont share your data" - yeah right, its got nsa and gchq written all over it.
tell ya what, the EU wont stand for this.
and we thought windows 10 was bad,,,,,,,

I don't disagree.
But certainly a very good help for the growing crowd of demented people in the elderly population as well as all mobile users who already have several apps installed to get by in everyday life and are tracked in their head and *ss.
People buy into what they think will make life easier and don't worry about their data being harvested.
After all, it is "worryingly" sad.

Every 3 seconds for 3 months? That the default settings? I wonder what the minimum storage size for that would look like.

25-50 GB reserved space. Probably more if you're a hyper-active user.

Watch the TV show Westworld, then everything Microsoft and OpenAI is doing looks even worse. We're still a long ways off from undetectable humanoid robots, but these "safety" features are what the data collection (telemetry) hides behind as an excuse to fool unknowing consumers. The only thing most major corporations like Microsoft care about today is making money for shareholders and lobbying.

This will never change so long as consumers act like fanbois as a collective, rushing out to install the latest "Preview" updates, "Insider" builds, and the newer operating systems. As a whole, we have told Microsoft and other developers that it's okay to release alpha products, and we will even pre-order that garbage (every game nowadays bombs at launch), plus we don't mind being the product ourselves or spending time fixing unfinished software.

Many people don't know this, but shareholder meetings are public in the USA, and they don't get nearly the attention they should. The Blizzard/Activision meetings were eye opening, and the YouTuber Rhykker does a good job dissecting those. Here's a 2023 Microsoft meeting (link) full of interesting topics, ranging from people being wrongfully imprisoned, killed, and tortured, due to telemetry, while most of the focus is on profits.

The push for ARM based processors is interesting. I wonder if they will eventually take over the general consumer market.

whats a full default install size these days? gonna do some estimates
20gb for the os with pagefile hibernation?
20gb for reserved storage?
20gb for this AI screenshotting cobblers?
60GB for a bloody operating system????????
DUCK FAT for a game of soldiers

Required size for Windows partition60 GB
Required size for Recovery partition (filled size depends on last CU & copied Windows drivers)500-800 MB
Pagefile.sys is a multiple of physical RAM (typically 1.5X)24 GB
Reserved storage minimum8 GB
Optional System Restore or File History (VSS Shadow Copy)2 GB ??
Copilot Memory reserved space25-500 GB

fighting change is useless, become developer or switch the product... Other than these only thing you can make is edits which are not reliable all the time

now they gonna force us into all this ai crap
I think if the market does not want it, then AI would fade away, just like VR and NFTs.

On the contrary, if the market wants AI, then it would stay with us. Only time will tell.

but we still got telemetry despite people wanting to get rid of it.
i aint got time to wait for 5/6/7+++ in the vain hope ms "might" remove something, ive got StD today so liting, dism package removal, disabling in "add or remove programs - features", disabling by group policy or kludging as a last resort all is fair in war.

the only positives i can take away from it is, at the moment you have to have a npu for most of it ( apparently even recall ) and thankfully i haven't.

now watch them move the goalposts to make sure everyone has it

more ms ----ery incoming so i have no qualms about reverse ----ery.
anyway, debian live nicely covers my online needs(basic) so winblows can dial home as much as it wants but it cant do sweet fa when its offline/airgapped.
