NTLite won't start

Quite simply my motherboard fried itself on xmas day and caused some kind of corruption on the hard drive. I got replacement parts but I was forced to reinstall windows (W7 Ultimate SP1). All my data and settings are still present on the hard drive in the old.windows folder. I was told NTlite could help me integrate my old settings into my new install but when I downloaded it, it installed and then nothing. I click to start the application and nothing happens. Like the program just quits immediately after starting.
This build of windows is so old I don't even have any good video drivers or sound drivers. Nothing will install and windows wont even update.

Is there a more stable version of NT that I can find anywhere that does actually work? Or an alternate program that might?
 
OK thats what I assumed the problem was. However this version is refusing to even connect to windows update because the error code given
(80072efd) says its blocked by the firewall. and its not even in the firewall list so i cant seem to unlbock it
