Hey, whenever I use the attached preset, some or all of these points below do not work under windows 11 25H2/26H2:

  1. - windows update did not work/was removed entirely
  2. - "settings -> system -> monitor -> graphic" crashed
  3. - Could not change Pin/Passwords (basically everything under "settings -> Accountdata" did not work)
  4. - Refactory stuff under "settings -> system -> Recovery" did not work
  5. - Troubleshooting did also not work
  6. - Contextmenu for .txt files via rightclick did also not work

Any help pointing out what could is causing those issues I am super grateful for!

These should not be removed for a start:

<c>useraccountscpl 'User accounts (Legacy)'</c>
<c>useraccountscpl32 'User accounts (Legacy) - 32 bit'</c>
<c>userdatasvc 'User Data Access'</c>
<c>userdeviceregistration 'User Device Registration'</c>
That will probably be the cause of problem 3.

I'll go through the rest later, if I get the time, but there is much removed that shouldn't be.

much much thanks, i bit my teeth out finding what could cause those but to the points listed by you:

are you sure User accounts (Legacy) bit is not irrelevant because (Legacy)-components are just that, legacy and hence should not be needed atleast under 26H2? and "User Device Registration" is only relevant for active directories which I dont use or need at all, same goes for "User Data Access" this is only relevant for email contact info, like here:

"User Data Access: Provides apps access to structured user data, including contact info, calendars, messages, and other content"

That methodology used to apply, long before Windows 11, it no longer does, unfortunately.

What you don't use, and/or, what you don't require, means nothing now, as removing something you don't want, will most likely break something you do. MS have designed it that way, and there is much more sh*t I wish to remove, but can't, due to this fact.

Some things just have to be left, at the cost of losing sleep at night, because they remain. (for myself anyway)

This 'system' is riddled with little puzzles that can twist your brain, and is nothing like an 'OS' used to be, hence the reason for so many pieces of software out there, trying to circumvent this nonsense ;)

What may work for you or I, may not work for anyone else?, but removing the simplest of things in this rot, can have the most drastic effect on others at times.

Challenging, yup.

I have a 26H2 'pre set' in my thread here, that works for me ;), which runs fine, but again, it depends on what you are running? I'd compare yours with mine, as it may just give you an idea as to what not to remove/keep etc.?

Bear in mind, I remove 'ALL' security features, Defender, VBS, Tamper, Smartscreen, Secure Boot, anything 'Edge' related etc. I have nothing to do with any of that garbage. No 'Store', or 'XBox' nonsense either. It's a 'PC'! If I wanted an XBox?, I'd go fuckin buy one!

I use WinMergeU as a comparison program, as it does my Linux stuff also, and can auto copy. :)
