Hello!

I know you don't support the autoattend file generated by Schneegans, but I'd really appreciate any help identifying the following issue.

Ghost command prompt windows appear after the first login and your commands aren't executed. I don't know if they're caused by NTLite settings or the installation automation file.

Note: The issue started appearing after the update preview: "August 29, 2025—KB5064081 (OS Build 26100.5074) Preview" and I'm using NTLite version v2025.08.10552. Before Windows Update KB5064081, it was working perfectly.

A screenshot of the windows is attached.

MOD Note: Redacted product key from autounattend.xml

This could be answered if you tried two things:
- Added the non-Preview version of Aug 2025's CU, but keep the same unattended file.
- Installed the same image, but without the unattended file.

Schneegan's autounattend.xml generator at this point allows too many features to be implemented at once, and should be considered its own standalone product which overlaps NTLite functionality. You're using it to get around the limitations of using a free NTLite edition.

Have you contacted C. Schneegan (his e-mail is at the bottom of the website) for help?

Hello Garlin,

Just to clarify: in the image I sent, I was not using the Preview version of the Windows 11 24H2 cumulative update.
The installed update is the security release KB5065426 (OS build 26100.6584).

My mention of the Preview was only to provide context that the issue started to occur from that update onwards.

I have also emailed Schneegan’s developer and I am waiting for a reply.
Once I receive feedback, I will come back here and share the information.

Regarding the use of Schneegan’s automation file:
it is not intended to bypass any limitations of the paid version of NTLite.

In fact, most of the configurations and features present in my automation file are not available even in the paid edition.
Many of them were combined from NTLite, Schneegan’s generator, and also added manually by myself through WSIM.

Finally, I would like to sincerely thank you for your attention and dedication.
You always devote your time to supporting the NTLite community, responding in such a helpful and generous way.

This truly makes a difference, and I am very grateful for your continuous support.

Remove features as groups, after finding the responsible group, remove commands by cutting their number in half. You should find the responsible commands in 4-5 try, then we can modify or see what we can do to fix it.

Schneegan's replied to my email and he said he has no idea what is causing the phenomenon, but he pointed out that it could be my post-logon script, I will do a test and let you know the result here.

I also have these "ghost" command prompts, and they've been there for a very long time and I don't use Schneegan's autounattend.xml
More visible on my laptop (less powerful PC), on my desktop, have to keep an eye on it

but it appears right after the first login, right after installing the image edited by NTLite?

In version 2025.10.10631, the ghost prompts didn't just stay on the screen. They disappeared, but not in all installations; in some, they remained on the screen.

Version 2025.10.10644 appears to have resolved the bug.

Now, there's only one bug left to fix, which is the one in this post.

Are you experiencing this other bug too?

No, I don't have a bug, I still have the command prompt windows that appear very briefly just after installation, and this is normal (option added in NTLite applied to the installation)
