Hi,

I am in the process of making a customized image based on Windows 10 2021 LTSC (=21H2). I wanted to disable or deactivate some things like CompatTelRunner or User Choice Protection, but also apply a current Cumulative Patch (KB5044273).
I am using NTLite 2024.10.10089

I am surprised that when I load in the base ISO (the original Windows 10 2021 LTSC coming from Microsoft servers), I am not offered the option for “User Choice Protection” under “Components”. The situation is similar with CompatTelRunner: I was offered a few entries under “Scheduled Tasks”, which I deactivated. When I installed the resulting ISO, I saw that a Scheduled Task “MareBackup” was still active, which was not offered to me by NTLite to deactivate.

When I use the resulting ISO in NTLite as a base, I get the above mentioned options.
Can anyone explain why this is the case?

I would like to avoid having to create my ISO in two passes...

Thank you,

dma

Nobody an idea? Sorry for having asked maybe a stupid question, but I'm new to NTLite...

When you load the untouched ISO, there are no these components, and when you integrate the updates and reload the image, the components are present ?
If yes, then you should ask nuhi to place these components in "Placeholder"

Hi,

- CompatTelRunner is in the component "Telemetry Client"
MareBackup is also removed with this component.

Will check what you reported about scheduled task regenerating itself, could be, it's telemetry and they want to force it - but also it could be something needs fixing so I must test first.

- User Choice Protection" is named like that, but it's added by a cumulative update from Win10 19041.3996+ and Win11 22621.2215+.
As tistou77 said, it would need to be added as a placeholder (it's there only for Win11 or if patched beyond this), you can update the image and reload it in the meantime to show up.
Thanks for the heads up.
