Updates not applying to image

I am running into an issue getting the latest CU to apply to a Windows 11 24H2 or 25H2 image when servicing with NTLite.

I downloaded the January 2026 ISO for each build and extracted the install.wim from them.

My first pass of the wim is to install 14 language packs and remove all editions but Enterprise. i've used Cleanup "Compatible", "Reset Base" and "None" for that pass, resultant WIM is the same size regardless.

My second pass is to install the checkpoint CU, the February CU 10.0.26x00.7840, the latest SafeOS update, enable the .net 3.5 component, and remove 11 of the Windows store apps.

I've tried using the "Compatible" and "Resetbase" cleanup options with the same end result.

I can see the whole process run through successfully, and it even seems to apply the CUs and run the DISM cleanup multiple times during the process. When the WIM is exported, it's only about 200MB larger than it was when I took it out of the ISO.

When I install the image on a PC, the build number is 10.0.26x00.7623 which is the January build.

Where am I going wrong?

Hi,

most probably you haven't applied the update to all editions and installed a "wrong" one.
Either enable Reapply - Integrate Updates to all of them on the Apply page, or Remove editions on the Apply page to not bother with those that you won't use... or a mix of both.

I've removed all editions except Enterprise, so it can't be that. I will try the reapply option and see if that makes a difference, thanks.

edit: never mind, it was a stupid problem my end where a script I changed to download/apply the new image didn't save so it was still pointing at last month's image!
