Hi.

in "settings" part of NTLite there is a location privacy setting. what happens after setting this option as disabled?
which services, tasks and registry keys does this option change?

which components, features, services and settings are necessary for location services?

thanks.

Enable or Disable Location Services in Windows 11

Location Service is its own component, and service. It takes data from a GPS device or cellular modem (if available), locally detected Wi-Fi SSID's, your geo-located external IP address, or an user-provided location to guess your current position. The less data that is available, the less accurate the guess will be.

Thanks dear garlin.
after using this preset I can't access location settings. even after changing registry keys it's not working...
can you please help me what did I wrong?

It's recommended to clean up removals in a second load of your altred image in NTL with Dism-Compatible or Dism-Resetbase as it runs before any components is removed and therefore don't get any avantage in reducing the install image.

NTLite only has a single Privacy setting for Location Services. That's fine for users who don't want to be located, but if you want manage more specific settings than you will have to do your own reg tweaks.

This subject is a bit of a mess, because the problem changes from W10 to W11 as more settings were added to later Windows releases.

NTLite supports the following:
- Location Service is a component which can be removed
- Location Service is a service which can be disabled
- Global consent to location data can be disabled

Unsupported features:
- Specific UWP apps or all Win32 apps have individual permissions to access your Location (need a script to update Registry).

The problem was from disabling the “start” access to location services.
