Will a new license work with an older version?

Hello,
I'm considering buying a license, but I would like to also use it with an older version of NTLite, specifically:

NTLite v2.3.9.9039

Which is supposedly the last one that can perform winsxs cleanup on Vista.
I do have that version's installer archived, but I don't know whether a new license is going to work on that.

I am still using W8.1 Pro, hell people are still using XP(or are trying to get it to run on newer hardware). Nothing wrong with using older operating systems and older hardware, nuhi did add (limited)support for Vista and its not as if TSNH is asking for miracles,,,

I would rather use w8.1 than 10 or 11 any day. Must get off my butt and try installing 8.1 on a dell intel 12th gen laptop.

I don't expect the license to work with such an old versions, at least the server won't connect to begin with.
Min supported version is Win7 and that even required a separate compilation (now two versions on the download page) as new systems are moving with new APIs that I don't want to miss.

So I know people don't want to hear it, but at least consider Win7 instead of Vista, it's the same thing anyway, just fixed-up.
I do like the look of Vista, dark-glassy... too bad they don't offer the same theme in Win11 - teasing us with Mica, but it's all too mild.
