I know that Win10 no longer has Windows Media Center in it. But some clever fellows created a way to side-loaded it back into Windows. And I use it.
After my adventures two weeks ago (trying to Host Refresh my current Win10), I restorted my previous working Win10, but removed more items from my Live Win10 with the latest NTLite.
Among more components removaled was:
Today I noticed today that WMC had stopped working. The error message was a missing decoder.
So I restored my Win10 from two weeks ago (from backup) and ran the NTLite Preset without removing WindowsDVDPlayer.
Now WMC is working again.
So it appears that WindowsDVDPlayer is required for WMC. (But I don't have the time to do a Clanger-like thorough forensic exam.)
