I wont know if the driver is compatible until it runs on 8.1 and if it crashes. Someones gotta test it see if it runs before you end up wasting your time.
 
Mebbe you can find a puinea gig somewhere. Intels are way too expensive, the Ryzen 2300X(single CCX, soldered, oem tray) is £79.95 as part of a bundle. Ive already got a stick of 2400 ram, i can afford the bundle next week, i need a good thunk over the weekend, if i go for it and you are willing to put the time in, its gotta be worth a try at least. :) I would rather not but i can bend 1607 well enough.

Just gonna stick with what i have got for the tim ebeing, wait n see what happens.

Right now the Ryzen 5 2600 is 145 quid, stick that on a 60quid motherboard, win 7/8.1 n ryzen master to control it is tempting. Even with w10.

Anyone done 1809 untoutched both architecture ISO Stripped almost to the bones preset with Network?
Left in are for example Smart Card, Drivers and Necessary system features like Sharing files on LAN using DLNA devices etc.

Edit adding info:
Usage for reaching NAS, DLNA, Gaming, photo, video editing and stream watching, Smart Card logins, Finger Print Sensor, AMD, Intel Processor and GPU's. Also needed is OOBE to rout Users folder to different drive. And also VirtualBox VMWare support.

Stripped out are Windows Apps and all that unnecessary bloat that tracks you and just in general uses more system recourses than it should.

@banko, you seen this? Unless you are using LTSC its pointless using 1809 when 1903 is due soon and may be a better build from day 1, or go back to 1709 or 1803.

Noted. As a matter of fact planning to buy retail W10Pro somewhere 11/12 February. So good to know. Thank you for the heads up.
 
If you are buying a boxed retail product(dvd inside) you wont know for certain which build number it is until you have opened the package and once you have you wont get a refund, go for a digital download from your usual supplier if you can. Dont buy cheapo keys from fleabay or other dodgepots.

10 Pro? Wait for 1903 or use 1803 backwards.
Actually i wouldnt use 1903. MS screwed up big time with 1809 and they damn well know it so they are in panic mode and 1903 shouyld be better at release. By the time the October update comes, 1909(?) MS should have pulled their thumb from their corporate bum and 1909 should be a polished turd at least.

The plan is to go for a USB from a legit Computer store in Estonia for a real Retail price.

What would be the key differences in features like - 1. How many times you can activate it on your machine? 2. If you change gear, can I run it on that new gear provided the old one uses something else? 3. Support in case I absolutely have to call MS?
4. What source media can I use (MediaCreationTool and etc)? And is it legal to use an officially downloaded ISO, when it's from MS, instead of the provided USB stick/DVD ?
 
I have heard of people being ripped off when they buy cheap keys. IF you want to be legit then cough up im afraid.
Its the key that matters not the installation media soyou can use a dvd usb key or iso from ms and as long as your key is kosher then you shouldnt have any problems activating. Be careful and only buy from a store in your own country, i have heard that keys are region specific so if you like in the UK but buy from another country the key may not work.

I'm curious, what does 1809 screwing up have to do with you not making a preset for 1903? I would have liked to see your preset for 1903. :)

Thing is that people dive in and start butchering away at the components without realising that you can get good gains by taking out the non important stuff, languages keyboards 3rd party drivers fonts etc. Nuhi has always had these things right back to nLite but another tool doesnt, its why i like nuhis stuff, he covers the basics too. :)

Hi all. I want to use Windows in a VM(s) so that I can make multiple connections to free Wifi hotspot that employs a SMS OTP-based login page using USB Wifi adaptors.
My question is which components should be retained for this? I am using the free version of Ntlite and I must have removed some needed component as the stripped down OS (Xp,7,10) wouldn't connect while the full-fat one had no issues. (msftconnect.com/redirect would open MSN page instead of the Wifi login page).
Xp curiously didn't redirect to the login page but an internet connection was established. But many apps no longer work so I prefer Windows 7 as with 8.1/10 there's a small lag in using the VM.

8.1 and 10(1809) are laggy compared to w7 even if they use the same ssd cos even with prefetch and superfetch disabled stuff starts noticably quicker on 7.

Hi, I'm trying to use the `W7-Bootwim-Barebone-v4.xml` preset with windows 7, and it seems the `.reg` file tweaks are missing from the Zip file.

NTLite complains that things like `w7-sleep-disable.reg` and `w7-take-ownership.reg` when I load the preset, are these in another Zip file I need to download? Thanks
