Some questions about the new UI. Seems laggy?

When I opened up NTLite for the first time in weeks, it updated to the new UI after a brief restart. It's taking a bit of getting used to, but overall the consistency is nice. I do appreciate that I have the option to go back to the classic descriptive look for the components page.

Unfortunately, it seems like the new UI is laggy? I have noticed that there is screen tearing on occasion and scrolling feels a bit jagged.

Also, for the dark theme, is it possible to have highlighted objects contrast the theme a bit more? For example, on the Drivers page, when I select a driver to remove, the chosen item is barely a few shades lighter than the rest of the items. In a brightly lit room, it can be difficult to see what was selected.

Finally, the Secure Boot section is much appreciated, but I feel like it could use some clarity. If I just choose the 'Deploy Certificate' option under staging, does that mean I can boot the image into a PC with the old certificate and it will install the new certificate upon reboot? I received a Secure Boot security violation with that option when I tried to reimage an very old laptop. Is there something I am missing? (I can move this to a separate thread if need be).

Only thing I've noticed, is it takes a little longer to start, not by much, but no lag in UI here. On Windows 10 mind you ;)

Not had any problems with that, as I disable that crap anyway, plus I use a lot of Linux stuff, so it's less hassle in long run. First thing I disable on any BIOS.

Thanks for the info, I'll check it out.

I've noticed NTLite seems to take nearly twice as long to mount an image. Used to take a few minutes, now it's taking several or even 10 minutes.

Nah, shouldn't take that long, a minute at most.

Just tested stock LTSC image loading (extracted first, I always extract and mount from image directory), 42.6 secs :)

Can you tell me which area exactly and if it was doing anything in the background?

Dark theme contrast has been worked on, will send you a test version to eyeball tomorrow probably.

Deploying a certificate/BIOS upgrade is a flag for Windows to do it after install as it sees fit, you can track the progress with the Host Secure Boot readiness (same page but load C:\Windows).
What is changing the ISO/Image bootability is the Update boot manager and ISO boot sector selections.
To know which boots on your machine, again host readiness, see if it's 2023 ready and choose that, otherwise choose 2011.
Click on the top-right question mark on the Secure boot page and see if that guide is of any help, if not, let me know where it lost you to improve.

Mounting can only be slowed only by an antivirus (check task manager while it's doing that, sort by CPU).
And in the Menu - Settings of the tool, unchecking Verify image files helps.

Btw if I take the report that UI and mounting are slow, make sure your PC drivers are OK and that there is no background process slowing it down, unless it's a VM, then it gets even more complex.
 
I have not noticed the UI lag, seems all-right to me and about the same, but mounting and unmounting of the image takes really long now, I don't have any metrics, but 2x feels about right. Also, when quitting, the cleanup takes almost as long sometimes as unmounting the image.

I turn Defender off when using NTLite and it's the same hardware, same drivers, same OS and everything else as before.

I checked and yes, I had "Verify image files" enabled, is it new? I never touched that. I'll turn this off and see if that makes any difference.

Verify image files is not new, let me know what you find, especially if you know a version which does it faster so I can compare on my side.
 
The only slight lag I noticed is when opening NTLite, the Image page has a bit of lag that wasn't there before with the old UI

How to see it? Don't get confused by the animation on load, or maybe it's only during that.
Let me know if you need an old version to compare, if I manage to see the lag it will be fixed.

Upon opening, a "loading" progress bar appears on the Image page (though it lasts less than a second).
With an older version (old UI), the Image page loaded immediately.

Oh, that, Loading row is now much less impactful and goes faster, but it is there.
To see it add 5 to 10 ISOs for the page to load slower. Important is that it is faster than before, if users need more speed, then we can add caching etc.
 
I hope my feedback is seen as constructive.

1 - Its now too easy to expand drop down lists, previously had to click on the arrow now just clicking the name will do it. I prefer the old behaviour. This is perhaps my biggest issue, so making this change I would be very grateful.
2 - The preset list already had a cluttering issue with all the needless auto presets (please allow us to disable auto preset generation), but now they can appear auto expanded making it worse.
3 - Too much animations now, and in particular the animation on the left after loading a wim, is too slow, it feels like a phone interface now in that respect.
4 - Some font sizes seem imbalanced compared to old UI, on that UI I never felt something looked out of place likt too big or too small, but on this one, the numbers on the left (representing unapplied changes) feel too small compared to the text, please bump them up one size.
5 - I think features on demand should be tabbed as on my screen its off the bottom, I could only find it by scrolling and almost forgot it existed. services etc. are tabbed, so this would make it consistent with other areas of UI.
6 - Some stuff got renamed which made me confused, especially as this was combined with not honouring previous preset configuration.
So as I understand it the old dism (compatible) is now 'normal' , the old dism (reset base) is either just reset base or reset basedeferred), unclear which. I tested all 3 options and the size generated was no more than 2 megabytes difference, since normal is safest, I reverted to that (I previously used dism compatible and it silently moved me to reset base deffered).

I am not against the UI change as a whole, and I do feel some areas are improved like the post setup screen, which looks much better now.

I have noticed extra lag, but it is bearable, and I assume will get optimised over time.
