Media Feature Pack for Windows 10 and 11 N
Add the Media Feature Pack to a Windows 10 or 11 N image, or to a running Windows N, with one tick in NTLite - no per-version download to find.
The N editions of Windows sold in Europe ship without the media stack: no Windows Media Player, no media codecs, and none of the components other apps build on. Some games refuse to start, camera and screen-recording apps fail, and video in some browsers and chat apps stays black. The Media Feature Pack puts it all back. With NTLite it is one tick on the image, so every machine installed from it has working media from first boot, and there is no separate download to find for each Windows version.
Add the Media Feature Pack With NTLite
- Load your Windows N image in NTLite
- Go to the Features page, Features on Demand tab
- Type media into the search box and tick Media Feature Pack
- Queue the latest cumulative update on the Updates page, so the media components are patched to the image's level in the same run
- Go to Apply → Process
NTLite downloads the pack that matches the image's version and architecture from Microsoft during Apply and verifies its signature before use. To have it in the update cache ahead of the run, use Download on the Features toolbar Premium.
N editions only: the row shows on an N image. Every other edition already carries the media components and cannot install the pack, so the tab does not offer it there.
Add It to a Running Windows N
On a machine that is already installed, load the live install (C:\Windows) on the Image page instead of an image file, then tick the same row and process. Restart when Windows asks; apps that checked for the media components at launch need the restart to see them.
Without NTLite, Windows 10 and 11 N offer the same pack under Optional features in Windows Settings, which needs the machine to reach Windows Update.
What the Pack Does Not Include
The Media Feature Pack restores the platform parts. Some Store media apps and codecs (HEVC, for one) are separate Store downloads on every edition, N or not. The Features on Demand guide covers the rest of the tab, including what to do when a download is blocked.
